Open Committee Descriptions
Student of the Quarter--
Coordinates the Student of the Quarter refreshments and volunteers for each quarter.
- work with Presidents to recruit cookies and volunteers
- purchase the paper products (cups and napkins) and lemonade (or other drink) and get reimbursed--leftovers can be stored in the PTSA closet so that you can purchase in bulk and use all year if you like. There are still table cloths in the closet.
- coordinate volunteers to set-up (make lemonade), put out cookies, etc. and clean-up on the day of the event (set-up usually starts at 1:30 and event is over at 3:00).
Legislative--Keep the PTSA informed about Legislative issues, attend the legislative assembly October 8th and 9th (paid by PTSA) if possible and give updates as needed at PTSA meetings.
Clothing Bank--this is a Kent Area Council Clothing Bank that is located at the Phoenix Academy. It serves youth in the Kent School District. The chair could run a clothing drive (not required), put a donation bin at Northwood and coordinates volunteers from Northwood for their distribution night in the spring (April 12, 2011). Emergency Preparation--inventory the supplies in the container to find out of date supplies. Purchase or get donations for new supplies to replace those that have expired.
Spiritwear--Coordinate volunteers to sell the remaining 2010 Spiritwear at games, conferences and any other opportunity. If continuing for a second year, help choose a new design for 2011, help choose vendor and place order to be ready for 7th grade Orientation.
